Twist and Shout Recorded Live in Melbourne, Festival Hall, June 16th, 1964 Sleeve Notes: As with Ultra Rare Trax Volume 8, this CD is a compilation and is in good sonic quality, and where the original source allows, is also stereo. Apart from where I have stated differently in the notes below, they are genuinely from the source the sleeve indicates; I have also given one other reference as to where each track can be also found. Track 1: As from "Stars of '63" track 2. (The Swingin' Pig TSP-CD-005) Track 2: This BBC take is as found on the Great Dane "Complete BBC Sessions" 9 CD boxed set, disc 2 track 24, but the quality of the sound presented here has a lot more top end. Track 3: As from "Live in Melbourne 1964 and Paris 1965" track 8. (Pyramid RFT CD 001) Track 5: This is the long Take 7 of "She's a Woman", as available on "Unsurpassed Masters Volume 2", track 3. (Yellow Dog YD 002) Track 6: This IS a fake, and is merely a BBC session recording of "I'm a Loser" with crowd noise dubbed onto it. The Beatles only recorded two versions of "I'm a Loser" for the BBC. The first one on 17th November 1964 for "Top Gear", and the second on 26th May 1965 for their last BBC radio show, "The Beatles invite you to take a Ticket to Ride". Now it is easy to identify the later one because of Johns change of lyric to "beneath this wig I am wearing a tie", so that leaves only the 17th November 1964 take. This 17th November 1964 take is found on the official "Live at the BBC" double CD set disc 2 track 19 and on the Great Dane "Complete BBC Sessions" on disc 9 track 1. Track 7: As found on the "Ultimate Collection Volume 1" four CD boxed set, disc 2 track 20. (Yellow Dog YDB 102) Track 8: As found on the official "Live at the BBC" double CD, disc 1 track 21. Also on the Great Dane "Complete BBC Sessions" 9 CD boxed set, disc 4 track 2. Track 9: As from "Live in Melbourne 1964 and Paris 1965" track 19. (Pyramid RFT CD 001) Track 10: As found on the "Ultimate Collection Volume 1" four CD boxed set, disc 3 track 10. (Yellow Dog YDB 103) Track 11: As found on "Ultra Rare Trax Volume 4", track 4. (The Swingin' Pig TSP-CD-026) Track 12: As found on "Five Nights in a Judo Arena", track 10. (The Swingin' Pig TSP-CD-011) Track 13: As found on the Great Dane "Complete BBC Sessions" 9 CD boxed set, disc 2 track 28. Track 14: As found on "Live in Melbourne 1964 and Paris 1965" track 9. (Pyramid RFT CD 001)
